How do I create or sign in to a Layton Account?
A Layton Account is free and optional. You only need one for Ranked matches and cloud sync. In the game, tap the switch on the bathroom TV and choose FIND A TABLE. On the MULTIPLAYER screen, tap the SIGN IN card at the top, then CREATE ACCOUNT OR SIGN IN. The game shows a code in the form XXXX-XXXX and an OPEN BROWSER button.
OPEN BROWSER opens laytonlabs.se/account with the code already filled in. Enter your email address, then the six-digit code we email you, and choose Link this game. You can also sign in at laytonlabs.se/account on any other device, choose Link a game and type the code yourself. The game signs you in within a few seconds. There is no password.
Both codes are valid for 10 minutes. If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder and ask for a new code.

How does cloud sync work?
While you are signed in, the game saves your progress to your Layton Account whenever it changes (it checks every 30 seconds) and when you leave the app. That includes your campaign, Scrip, tools and unlocks, your character's look, achievement progress and settings. Your online name and ranked record follow the account too.
Sign in on another iPhone or iPad and your progress comes with you. If two devices disagree, the game keeps the save that has come further: more tables cleared, then more verdicts, then more Scrip. The campaign plays offline, and syncing picks up again the next time you are online.

What is the difference between Quick Play and Ranked?
Both start from FIND A TABLE on the bathroom TV and need an internet connection. Quick Play needs no account. Choose an online name, which an automated filter checks, and join the queue. Once a name is approved, it can't be changed. Quick matches never change your rating or record.
Ranked needs a free Layton Account. A win adds 40 RP and a loss takes away 20 RP, never below zero, as you climb from Bronze through Silver, Gold and Diamond to Master. In both modes, if no other player is waiting, a computer-controlled opponent takes the seat after about 20 seconds.

How do I delete my Layton Account?
In the game: tap the switch on the bathroom TV, choose FIND A TABLE, tap the ACCOUNT card on the MULTIPLAYER screen, then DELETE ACCOUNT and CONFIRM DELETE.
On the web: sign in at laytonlabs.se/account, choose Delete account and type DELETE to confirm.
By email: write to [email protected] from the address linked to your account, and we will delete it for you.
In the game and on the web, deletion is immediate. It can't be undone. It removes your email address, cloud save and ranked record, and signs out every device. The copy of your online name and ranked record on our match server is removed within 30 days. Progress stored on your device stays there. You can create a new, empty account later with the same email address.

What happens to my progress if I delete the game?
Your progress is saved on your iPhone or iPad, and deleting the app deletes that save too. If you were signed in to a Layton Account, your last synced save is still in your account: reinstall the game, sign in again from the MULTIPLAYER screen, and your progress comes back. Without an account, we have no copy of your progress. Game Center achievements you have earned stay with your Apple Account.

Does Mercyful use Game Center?
Yes. Mercyful has 17 Game Center achievements. When you are signed in to Game Center on your device, the game reports achievements as you earn them. To see them, tap GAME CENTER on the main menu. Game Center is provided by Apple, and we do not receive your Game Center identity or friends list.

How do you handle my data?
Mercyful has no ads, no tracking and no in-app purchases. Our privacy policy explains what the game and Layton Account collect, who we share it with, and how to use your rights.
